Why the name Mobius?

One team working seamlessly.

So why did we come up with the name Mobius?

It comes from August Ferdinand Möbius, a nineteenth century German mathematician and astronomer, who was a pioneer in the field of topology. He invented the Mobius Strip, a two-dimensional surface with only one side.

But what’s so special about this strip? Well, make one yourself and you’ll see. Take a long, thin strip of paper and twist it through 180 degrees before joining the short ends together. Then draw a line with a pen along it and you’ll see that it covers both sides with one continuous line.

If you cut along this strip, you’ll be left with one long strip with two half twists in it, instead of two separate strips. If you cut this new strip along the middle, you get two strips wound round each other. In other words, this second cut produces two linked bands.

What’s more, it’s impossible for the Mobius Strip to be different colours because it only has one side and one edge.

We believe that this unique shape perfectly captures and expresses our belief in the partnership of Mobius and your company collaborating in a seamless, one team way of working.
